DETECTOR INSTALLATION
Hardwired smoke detectors devices should be installed on every level of a home, especially close to sleeping areas. Hardwired detectors are often interconnected, meaning if there is an alarm in one area that is activated, all detectors go off to become a whole house fire alarm. It is recommended that smoke detectors should be changed once every decade.
Carbon monoxide is a tasteless, odorless gas that is impossible to detect without a monitoring device. Moreover, it is produced in many ways with the most common way being fuel combustion during heating and cooking. Combustion engines like those are found in automobiles, snow throwers and lawnmowers, which create carbon monoxide while in use. Blocked chimneys, broken flues or damaged furnace heat exchanges can also allow carbon monoxide gases to enter the home.
CEILING FAN INSTALLATION
A properly installed ceiling fan not only adds décor to your room but serves an important function of helping you cool and warm your home. A ceiling fan installation will help you save money on your utility bills, especially with the hot summers and cold winters.
Ceiling fan installations bring several benefits to homeowners. During the hot, humid summer, ceiling fans bring cooler room temperatures, thus saving customers money on electric bills by allowing the thermostat to stay set a little higher than normal. In the winter, ceiling fans circulate heat that has risen to the ceiling, which lowers customers’ heating bills. It’s apparent that a ceiling fan installation will make a huge impact on the comfortability of a home by providing both cooling and heating capabilities at a far lower cost or operating expense than almost any other item.
The installation process is a breeze. Before anything else, the installation location must be chosen. In almost all homes, the fan is installed in the center of the room, replacing a central light fixture. This spot provides the largest amount of smooth airflow to the room. Since a fan draws about the same power as a ceiling fixture, note that the electrical circuit shouldn’t be overloaded. However, if your fan includes lights, be certain that the circuit the fan runs on has enough extra capacity to handle the load.
OUTLET/SWITCH REPAIR
The need for outlet repair comes from people switching lights on and plugging in/unplugging lots of appliances each week. Electrical outlets and switches cause the most wear and tear on electrical systems. In fact, each time a device gets plugged in or unplugged, outlet connections in homes get increasingly weaker to the point they no longer function.
Electric panels deliver energy through wires to be accessed through electrical outlets. This flow of energy can be extremely dangerous if it comes in contact with heat or moisture. Wiring circuit interruptions can halt power supply to electrical outlets and other items, or lead to fires and shock. This is where ground fault receptacles or ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI’s) come into play.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that 50 people die every year from accidental electrocutions involving residential wiring, panel boards, circuit breakers, and electrical outlets.
Our electricians install electrical outlets which may be backed by ground fault interrupters to provide safety from wire circuit interruption hazards. GFCI’s shut off power sources from outlets in as little as 1/40 seconds once excessive heat or dampness is detected. Ground fault circuit interrupters also screen any imbalances between current flows of ungrounded (“hot”) and grounded (“neutral”) conductors within circuits to block power production in high-risk events.
ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING
It can be very difficult to find the cause of even common problems like flickering lights or intermittently working outlets. While these problems occur frequently, their underlying causes can be difficult to determine. Our professionals can troubleshoot any problems that you’re experiencing with your electrical system and determine the exact root causes of the issues.
If lights in a home often flicker, then power arcing is likely the cause. Arcing is a potentially dangerous issue that occurs when adjoining wire connections complete an electrical current by electrons that float and connect through the small gap, which is similar to how lightning forms. This arcing draws power, which can be witnessed by the flickering lights in a home.
